I'm only 5 miles over the border, near Lake Geneva. Are you in the city or out in the suburbs? If it meant getting the kids monitors my wife would be up for a road trip if it wasn't too far.
I think Odus needs a 2nd monitor, I think he gave his 2nd one to his brother but I'm not sure...Odus...where are you?? I could mail one to Odus if he wants. |

I'm in Evanston. north side, easy shot down 94, about 4 miles off the highway.
My wife has been talking about going up to the outlet mall. maybe she'll want to go this weekend.
or you can come down, either way
I was in your neighborhood about a month ago.
there was an orienteering race at the Bong Recreation Area. |

what's that on the left screen?
opened my desk drawer for the first time in several days and found a StarBucks gift card with a happy bday note. completely forgot it is this weekend.
monitor pick up/drop off might be off this weekend
I'll try to find out if there's anything planned and let you know Zoo.
no wonder my wife flipped out when i had mentioned going to a 3 day orienterring race this weekend |

I could use 2 but I'm waiting to see if Odus wants any. I'll let you know shortly.
BTW, Do you participate in the orienteering races? Those look like fun, especially if you like being in the woods and stuff and are pretty good at finding your way through. |

Sorry ZOO, I didn't see your post until now. I reckon I don't need a second monitor. I don't really have the desk space anymore either because of a new scanner/printer. |

yeh, I've been running the races for a while. lot of fun.
use a topographical map and compass to make your way through a series of check points. the one at the Bong Rec. Area was one of my favorites. there were 2 races that day. one in the afternoon and one at night.
I got pretty torn up on those courses and sore, could barley walk the next day. lots of torn bushes and between 2 check points I had to cross about 800 yards of 6+ foot prairie grass that was more like Florida saw grass.
at one point on the night race I was too busy looking at my map and ran into a lake and lost a shoe in the mud, took a couple of minuted to dig it out.
there's a big club in Wisconsin (Badger Orienteering Club) that does some combined races with the Chicago club. like the Bong Rec. race. the national championships are this weekend at the Northern Kettle Moraine park.
I ran one race that was a qualifier for this weekend, lots of Europeans there that looked like Olympic track runners |

They should do those races with a 50lb backpack strapped on and an M16 in your hands.
Sounds fun though, I would have totally gotten into that a few years back but now I'm out of shape because I gotta work so much. I used to do all my running through woods and fields but not so much marsh. The only time I tread through the marsh is when I'm hunting which hasn't been much lately.
Let me know how much it would be to pack and ship 2 monitors and PM me your address so I can get you the $.
Thanks |

I usually do carry a backpack. depending on how I feel I may load it down with water. I have two 100oz bladders from an old CamelBack pack plus a couple of canteens and water bottles. never seen anyone else do it though, they're mostly just going for speed. My backpack is never anywhere close to 60lbs maybe 30-35.
not sure what they would think if I should up with a M16, if I had one.
not too expensive though, you can pick up an AR15 for about $900 or an AK47 for about $800.
I don't really care about my times so much, moslty just having fun and practicing finding the most efficient route. You should come out sometime.
I've been considering going hunting the week of Thanksgiving up in northern Illinois. Archery deer.
I'll have to see what boxes & styrofoam I have in the basement that will work. I'll let you know. |

It's a little bit more but if your ina crowd, why not let the world know how you really feel
Look for the rocket launcher to really make a statement
